Ang Shee General Association held again a grand banquet on 13-Dec-2014 (Saturday). It was on that glorious day that the association was celebrating its 49th Anniversary. Ang Shee General Association had, with its strong and vigorous posture, passed 49 years by standing together through storm and stress, and by having a common goal. It had achieved outstanding performance and great success by working hard painstakingly over several decades.

Early morning on that day, committee members arrived at the association for making the various arrangement to worship the ancestors. At 12:00 noon, led by our current President Clan Elder Lian Kwang, committee members solemnly offered incense to pray and worship the ancestors on the memorial tablet. They also prayed to seek blessing and protection from the ancestors for good health and happiness for all the clan members and their families. Awhile later, the committee members enjoyed a simple lunch and dispersed after receiving briefing from our General Affairs Director for the banquet dinner arrangement.

Though the banquet dinner was scheduled to be held at 07:30 PM, but the committee members arrived very early to decorate the venue and make arrangement for guest reception. Everybody worked with excellent teamwork that truly manifested the intimacy and closed cooperation among the fellow committee members. At around 7:00 PM, with the gradual arrivals of the fellow association and clan members, the committee members began to be busy with some taking charge of ushering for guest seating, some responsible for distributing the goody bags and annual newsletter, and some chitchatting with fellow clan members about the activities of the past one year and the prospects of the coming year. Every tasks was carried out methodically and orderly. Especially worth mentioning was the members of the Women's Committee who were very dedicated in the tasks given, and their beautiful postures had also given us visual enjoyment. It had shown the elegant appearance of our association in another aspect.

At 7:30 PM, our President Clan Elder Lian Kwang and all the committee members welcomed the arrivals of our Honorary Advisor cum Honorary Trustee Clan Elder Liat Kiat (皇冠徽章) and his wife, Chairman of Liu Kwee Tang (六桂堂) Clan Elder Ang Chee Guan PBM (拿督斯里), various clan members from local and overseas Liu Kwee Tang, and representatives of the various communities.

The biggest highlight of this banquet was the attendance of a huge delegation from overseas Liu Kwee Tang (六桂堂) which consisted of a total of 120 clan members from Malaysia and Indonesia. It showed the clan harmonization and profound friendship among the clan members of the local and overseas Liu Kwee and Zhide (至德) Clans. Most fellow association and clan members had used the annual dinner to meet old friends, to keep updated with association's state of affairs and situation, and to chat wholeheartedly with each other and look forward to the future.

When the Master Of Ceremony, amid the overwhelmingly warm music being played, declared the commencement of the annual dinner for celebrating the 49th Anniversary of the Ang Shee General Association, 44th Anniversary of the Benevolent Association, 6th Anniversary of the Women's Committee and 2nd Anniversary of the Youth Committee, as well as the 45th Bursary Award ceremony, the PowerPoint slides elaborately prepared by fellow clan member Seng Hee for displaying the photographs of the past 49 years of various activities of the association were also being shown on the projection screens to provide 360 degrees no blind spot viewing to all the clan members and guests. Everyone showed smiles of understanding when they saw their pictures appeared on the screen.

In his speech, our President Clan Elder Lian Kwang thanked all the committee members for providing hardworking and selfless contributions. As the association would welcome its 50th birthday next year, he hoped all members could as always be united in a concerted effort to achieve better in the golden jubilee celebration, to make joint effort to complete the golden jubilee commemorative magazine, and to record and document the ups and downs of the association in the past in order to allow the clam members of the future generations to understand the history of the association so as to join and participate in the works of the association by making use of their personal strength to provide services to the association, so as to allow the association's business to scale a new height. Subsequently, our Honorary Advisor cum Honorary Trustee Clan Elder Liat Kiat (皇冠徽章) also went on stage to give a speech. Clan Elder usually used Teochew dialet in his speech in the past, everyone had a overwhelming surprise when this time he used Chinese language for the speech. In this elderly with venerable age, we could see the studious and life-long learning spirit and thus could deeply understand the roots of his success. As a proverb says: "An Old Man At Home Is A Treasure", Clan Elder Liat Kiat (皇冠徽章) is indeed the well-deserved treasure of our association.

Subsequently, our Director of Scholarship fellow clan member Peng Hong announced the name list of awardees for the 45th Bursary Award. There were a total of 21 outstanding children of fellow clan members being bestowed with this honor. The awards were presented by our Committee Advisor Clan Elder Gee Seng to these students as a mean of encouragement. A representative from the recipients, student Ang Zi Yang, also a member of our Youth Committee, gave a speech of appreciation, thanking Clan Elders and fellow clan members for their encouragement and affirmation of support, for increasing the sense of honor of the awardees, and for making them understood their responsibility of giving back to the society and the association with the best of their ability after they had achieved academic success.

Finally, our General Affairs Director fellow clan member Ah Chye also gave a speech to review and provide outlook to the future work arrangement and development blueprint of the association. He also thanked our friends who came a long way from far to attend, and looked forward to reunion in the golden jubilee celebration. During the banquet dinner, the clan members from Liu Kwee Tang of Sibu of East Malaysia presented a banner of "六桂传芳" to the association. The banquet dinner proceeded with warm and cozy atmosphere. Various performers presented many wonderful songs. Then all committee members of the General Assoicaiton, Benevolent Association and the Women's Committee raised their glasses to propose three (3) toasts, giving best wishes for the nation to prosper, for the association to thrive, for the businesses of all members and quests to flourish, and for good health of all members, guest, and their families.

The banquet dinner came to a perfect ending at 10:30 PM. Everyone parted reluctantly and agreed to meet again in the golden jubilee celebration.
